| Duties: |
The Laboratory is seeking a motivated, team oriented, individual to join our
molecular diagnostics division. Primary duties include the performance and
troubleshooting of molecular techniques, using real-time PCR and RT-PCR , for the
detection of viral and bacterial agents in clinical specimens including all
pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes. This individual will have primary
responsibility for quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) and to aid in
ensuring that all clinical testing meets or exceeds CLIA regulations and UHL policies
and procedures. |

| Qualifications: |
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Microbiology, or related
field. A Master's degree is preferred. Considerable (3-5 years) related laboratory
experience is required with at least two years experience with molecular techniques.
Successful candidates must be eligible to perform high complexity testing under CLIA
regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Five
years of laboratory experience using molecular techniques in a diagnostic or
clinical setting is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with
experience in QA and QC activities, method validation, and designing and
troubleshooting "real-time" PCR assays. Advanced computer knowledge, including DNA
analysis, is highly desirable.
