Shovels will be breaking ground at the corner of Oakdale Boulevard and Highway 965 on Wednesday, October 25 to officially mark the commencement of construction of the UHL facility in Iowa City.

"This new home for UHL is a compilation of the dreams and hard work of the UHL team, and underscores Iowas commitment to disease prevention, emergency preparedness and a healthy environment for all citizens," says Christopher Atchison, interim director of UHL. "This ceremony marks the beginning of a bright future for UHL, for our staff and for the people of Iowa."

Completion of the building is targeted for fourth quarter 2009.
