Staff Recognized for Industrial Hygiene Leadership

Two members of UHL were recognized for their leadership abilities recently at the American Industrial Hygiene Association's (AIHA's) annual conference. Pam Kostle, industrial hygiene program manager, was elected vice chair of the AIHA Laboratory Quality Assurance (LQAP) Analytical Accreditation Board. Pam also currently serves as vice chair of the group's Sampling and Laboratory Analysis Committee (SLAC). Next year, she will assume the post of chair for the group.

During the AIHA annual meeting, Pam presented an invited talk on "Closing the Gap between the Field and Laboratory-Based Industrial Hygiene Practitioners."

Periyasamy "Subu" Subramanian, chemist, previously served as the vice chair of the SLAC and just completed his tenure as chair. During the recent meeting, Subu was recognized for his "exemplary leadership and dedication" to the organization.

"Pam and Subu's leadership abilities help strengthen AIHA, and also increase the visibility of UHL at the national level," says Dr. Michael Wichman, UHL associate director environmental services.
